The internet doesn’t weigh anything!

I am really enjoying my new job as IT support at a local school. It’s part IT and part clerical, so in the morning I am doing things like putting together the school newsletter, updating the software that the school uses and answering the phone. In the afternoon’s I am slowly plodding through an evergrowing list of IT issues that the teachers are experiencing. Later on in the year I will be looking running some education sessions on things like wiki’s, webquests and smartboards.

I like the work, it’s flexible, I can pick and choose what I want to tackle on a given day, and I am finding that the teacher’s are appreciative of the help I am offering.

It still amazes me how little some people know about IT and using computers. People seem to be scared of it and find it intimidating, whereas I find that most of IT is trial and error and experimenting and pretending you know what you are doing.

Overall, I feel useful, like I have a purpose. All I want now is to combine it with casual teaching next term and I will be feeling pretty set for a while.

Its raining…rain

Ok, so I am struggling with original post titles but I think you get the gist of this post. It’s about RAIN!

A couple of weekends ago whilst driving home from Sydney we drove through some flooding in the car. It was pretty exciting, and we were lucky to get through because I think they closed the highway not too long after.

It had rained pretty heavily in the area all weekend and driving was pretty crazy. We actually stopped to help a guy who had rolled his car on the highway. I felt pretty sorry for him, he was heading to Wagga for his 3rd week of uni and swerved to miss something he thought he saw. We waited with him in the rain until the CFA showed up.

So heading towards Holbrook we drove through this.

Pretty cool huh?

 

Lazy Blogger

I am a well meaning blogger. I mean to blog, I often think ooh I should blog about that but then the time comes I get distracted, or I am tired or too busy watching ”Toddlers and Tiaras” .  I mean can you believe I didn’t blog about my birthday? Or the fantastic wedding I went to?

So coming up in the next couple of days I will be updating my blog including the wedding, my birthday and the great new job I have.

But in the meantime, a close friend of mine has started to blog. Turns out my total lack of blogging has motivated someone else to start. I’m a total inspiration.

Movie Review: Alice in Wonderland

I have been looking forward to seeing this movie for several months, I like Tim Burton films and I think Johnny Depp is brilliant but I left this movie yesterday feeling dissapointed.

I was hoping for something a little bit darker, a bit more Burton, but this was like…a pretty picture with nothing else really in it.

Depp was disappointing, he was just not what I was hoping for at all, and Alice was plain boring, although I guess we should be thankful as it’s rumoured that Lindsay Lohan was looking into the role.

Unfortunately, just before the movie started someone pointed out to me that Anne Hathaway has a giant mouth so that’s pretty much all I could see whenever she came on, that and her mismatched hair/eyebrows. IMDB said that Burton based the White Queen on Nigella Lawson, now I love Nigella and if I were her i’d be fairly insulted.

Overall I give it 2 stars, I’m already sick of 3D movies. It is so gimicky and pointless, next time i’m sticking with gold class.
