I took our three dogs back there today for a play, and on the way I picked up some tennis balls and a dog frisbee. Well we were having a great time playing until a guy brought his dog in and started to kick a soccer ball around. Well Tammy, our Lab loves soccer balls, and she was all over that thing. He assured me it was ok and she could play but within about 2 mins she had run off with it. I tried to distract her with the tennis balls, but that only caused her to show off, by fitting not one, but two tennis balls and the soccer ball in her mouth. (fricking hilarious Tammy).

Feeling quite bad about the state of the soccer ball (the guy thought she was hilarious) I got out the frisbee, 2 dollars from the reject shop it flew pretty well. Seeing it, Tammy charged after it, leaving the soccer ball. Perfect! She then proceeded to sit down, and snap the frisbee in pieces.

I handed the soccer ball back to the guy in a pretty sorry state, Tammy had managed to puncture it and had completly flattened it.

Next time, we’re going back to sticks.

Almost an hour and a half later I hadn’t heard from her. It was getting close to six, so I thought i’d go back to the optometrist and wait for her. However when I got there, they were closed so I knocked on the door and waited. The receptionist came out and told me they had no patients left everyone had gone.

So I immediately got on my mobile and tried to call her, but it went straight to voice mail. I hummed and haahed and alternated between calling her mobile and home phone for about 5 minutes, debating whether to wait for her, or see if for some reason she had gone home. I was worried, it was getting dark and my Nan is pretty cute, you never know who might take her home.

Finally I called Mum, to see what she thought I should do. Her advice was to stay put and see what happens. 30 seconds after chatting to Mum, the receptionist has come running out the front door, and started looking in cars parked down the street. When I get out of my car she runs over to me. She tells me that Nan is inside, and that she won’t be long.

Half an hour later, my dear Nan appears on the arm of the optometrist. Turns out they’d put her in the back waiting room and forgotten about her…for over an hour! It wasn’t until the cleaner walked in and found her that the mistake had been realised.

*Someone at work pointed out to me that if she couldn’t see to drive would she have been able to see to text me?

My edges were not at all sharp, but I was super pleased with how the figurine turned out, particularly her face.

I admit I did think it over, things are a bit different from last time, I am working full time now. But a quick check with a friend to see if she could feed the pups at lunchtimes when I couldn’t and I was in.

It turned out to be two little girls, from a litter of four (the other two have gone to another dog rescue here in Albury), they are (we think)  Staffy/Rhodesian Ridgeback, which sounds tough but they are really very sweet.

So far I don’t think their six and a bit weeks of life have been much fun. They were just infested with worms, and too skinny and just desperate for food.

They will need to be desexed and fattened up a bit before they are ready for adoption in the meantime….

I suffer from depression, hate saying it because it seems like an excuse but I know I do. I have tried to go with medication for it, but whenever I do I end up with massive unreasonable anxiety which just isn’t good for me, or anyone around me for that matter.  I went to the doctor the other day because for the past few weeks I just feel like I am not working right, I feel teary alot of the time. He thought it might be winter starting, which sounds kind of odd, but apparently it does have an effect, and I am also working more than I ever have. He told me that it would be likely I would be on medication for several years if not 10+ years, and he also suggested an increase to get me through winter.

I haven’t increased as I thought I would see how things played out in the next few weeks, and I also want to get back into exercising as I know this can make a major difference. Exercising just does not come naturally to me, I don’t run, I don’t like walking as it is too slow, bike riding is good though, however whenever I leave home on my bike I have three crazy dogs that want to tag along too (but that’s really just an excuse) I do like going to contours but struggle to be enthusiastic for it after work. It so silly because to do something that is so good for me, and that I know will make me feel good afterwards is just so damn hard to start!

I think the main thing that bothers me is that to a never-ending “things to do list’ that just does not seem to get done. I have never had this in a job before, I worked at Coles for five years and at the end of a day there the only thing I had left to do was wash the deli smell out of my clothes* Then I worked as a nanny, where my main aim was to the keep the children alive, fed and reasonably clean.  And most days I achieved most, if not all three of those things.

Now though, even though I am working my hardest, I cannot achieve everything I set out to, because little day-to-day problems crop up. I have to learn that this is reasonable, and that it is ok.

And even though I have this ever-growing list? I love it. I love the flexibility of my job, that I can pick and choose what I want to tackle, I love trying to figure out how to fix things and occasionally getting it right. And I love helping people.

I crouched down again, repositioned and proceeded to fill the car up.

I was standing behind a line of about three people waiting to pay wondering about the effects of petrol on the skin when all of a sudden one of the other cashiers asked another cashier if she could smell gas. The other one said she could, and they both started to wonder where it might be coming from. I moved up the line, all the while feeling rather self conscious about my shoes when  another customer said she could also smell something. By the time I was at the front of the line they both said it was getting stronger and seemed to be getting rather concerned.

At the time I left the store they had just decided to call management to work out what to do. The petrol smell was so strong that I had to keep the windows down on the drive home.

*The moral to this story: Always wear your friends shoes** when filling your car with petrol
